JAMES SOTELL, AIF®
Managing Director, Founder

Jim, our Managing Director, boasts over 30 years of ERISA experience, specializing in Plan Sponsor relations and retirement plan management. His previous role as Vice President at Fidelity Institutional Retirement Services Company saw him overseeing the Southeast Institutional retirement business, demonstrating his deep industry expertise.

Jim holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ designation, evidencing his specialized training in fiduciary responsibility and portfolio management. He completed the esteemed FIIRG Investment Management Institute Training at Harvard Business School. Additionally, he earned a BA in History with a minor in Economics from Hobart College and studied at The University of Edinburgh.

An active participant in the industry, Jim is a member of the Triangle Benefits Forum and served on the BrightScope Advisory Council. He has collaborated with CAI, a non-profit employers’ association, to deliver fiduciary training to its extensive membership. Jim is also a recognized speaker on fiduciary topics, having presented at the AICPA National Benefits Conference. His insights have been featured on NBC-17’s “Your Money” and he has been interviewed by PBS FRONTLINE for a detailed report on 401(k) plans.

SCOTT FREMER, CEBS
Director

Scott serves as a Director at Comperio, where he leads the sales and relationship management efforts at our Western Pennsylvania office. With over 30 years of ERISA experience, Scott has a deep understanding of both defined benefit and 401(k) plans, assisting Plan Sponsors in navigating their complexities.

Throughout his distinguished career, Scott has held several management positions at prominent institutions, including Fidelity Investments, MassMutual Retirement Services, and Wachovia Retirement Services. He has worked with over 200 Plan Sponsors, developing tailored strategies in investment, education, and plan design to meet their specific needs.

Scott is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), a credential co-sponsored by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, marking him as a leader in the employee benefits field. He holds a BS in Business Administration from Duquesne University.

Recognized for his expertise, Scott has contributed to numerous publications and has been featured on KDKA-TV’s Sunday Business Page discussing retirement-related issues.

JARROTT HEATH, CFA®, CAIA

Director of Investments

Jarrott serves as the Director of Investments and co-Chair of the Investment Committee at Comperio. He spearheads investment research and manager due diligence across equity, fixed income, alternative assets, and multi-asset strategies. His role involves blending in-house analytics with third-party research to guide macro-economic forecasts, oversee asset allocation recommendations and lead the manager selection process. Before joining Comperio, Jarrott specialized in business valuations and transaction-advisory services for the construction industry.

He holds an MBA from the University of Cincinnati and a BBA in Financial Services from the University of North Florida. Jarrott has achieved the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, a multi-year credentialling program that requires passing a series of exams and attaining four years of relevant industry experience. The program is broad-based, encompassing investment tools, asset valuation, portfolio management, and wealth planning. Additionally, he holds charterholder status with the CAIA Association, recognized globally for expertise in alternative investments including commodities, hedge funds, real estate, and private equity.

BRIAN SPRADLING
Vice President of Operations

Brian serves as the Vice President of Operations at Comperio, bringing over 28 years of comprehensive ERISA expertise. His career spans both plan provider and plan sponsor roles, deepening his understanding of retirement planning from multiple perspectives.

Previously, Brian was the Director of Retirement and Stock Administration for a leading privately-owned auto parts distributor. In this role, he oversaw numerous retirement and stock plans across the US and Canada, benefiting over 20,000 employees. Before this, he was integral to a retirement plan provider’s operations, managing the accounting and recordkeeping group. He also excelled as a Trust Relationship Manager, aiding clients with plan design, investment reviews, and employee engagement.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Trust Management from Campbell University, complemented by a minor in Financial Planning. His extensive background and educational qualifications equip him with the unique ability to enhance Comperio’s operational strategies and client solutions.
